BIRTH to FIVE SPEECH & LANGUAGE FIVE TO TWELVE TEENAGE YEARS PRE-BIRTH/ANTENATAL

AS FEATURED IN NURSERY WORLD

This part of the website offers you the opportunity to find out about our fantastic Parenting
DevelopmentWheels™.
Originally developed for 'customised' production for early years and childcare organisations, their popularity with parents, carers, childminders and individual early years and childcare practitioners has meant that we have now produced 'non-branded' copies of each version for individual purchase.

The BIRTH to FIVE wheel is our most popular and is currently one of five we produce.
The others are:
SPEECH AND LANGUAGE - the second of our birth to five wheels, this focuses on the development of communication in the early years
PRE-BIRTH/ANTENATAL - an easy to use guide broken down into small time segments for mothers-to-be.
FIVE TO TWELVE YEARS - a guide for parents as their children get older
THE TEENAGE YEARS - a guide to help teenagers and their parents as they move towards becoming an adult
Use the links above to access information on any of our Development Wheels.

From Birth to five – a guide to child development for parents/carers

Like all of our wheels, the easy to use Birth to Five full colour wheel twists around to reveal the age section you need and has information on both sides. It has been developed as an easy to read and use tool for parents and carers of young children in their early years. Originally designed to compliment our 'Development and Learning Journey' book for practitioners of children from birth to five it has gone from strength to strength and is now our biggest selling publication. Written by practitioners and early years advisors it contains useful information about what we might expect children to be achieving in the first five years of their life.

Split into nine sections the moveable wheel twists round to the relevant age section - the first being birth to three months and the last being age four to five. On one side of the wheel there are general things that the child might/should be able to do at each age stage and there is also a list of things that the family can do to help the child, for each age group. The reverse side gives parents information about how to keep the child safe and healthy at each stage of their development from birth through to five years old. This was the first of our two wheels covering the early years and our other 'speech and language wheel' focuses on how young children will develop from recognition and movement, through to their talking and writing skills from an early age. It covers five areas which are: Attention & Listening; Social interaction; Play; Understanding; Expression and Talking. Click here for details about the Speech & Language wheel.

All of our Development Wheels measure approx 230mm in diameter, so they are easy to carry around. They come laminated for a longer lifespan and all of the information contained within them was written by practitioners and/or early years professionals to ensure that it will meet the needs of not only parents and carers, but also practitioners, students and childminders working with and caring for children.

The price for a single copy of any wheel is £2.99 plus Post and Packing (P&P). There are savings on P&P for more copies.

ORGANISATIONS/AUTHORITIES
ALSO CHILDCARE PROFESSIONALS/CHILDREN'S CENTRES

We can now organise small quantities of 'customised' wheels (with your logo on). Minimum quantity only 100 (was 2000!). Click here to go to the COMMERCIAL site at KMMD Publishing for details. The wheel can also be customised for authorities/organisations who would like to 'brand' the publication for use in their own community and purchase bulk copies (for instance you may wish to have copies in each of your settings, in children's centres or to give to your registered childminders). This offers authorities the chance to save on the costs associated with the development and production of a new item like this, because all of the set up work has been done in terms of copywriting and editing, design, artwork, proofing and even the cutter guides to produce the wheel and rivet it together.
